2017 Maruti Swift Sport is being considered for India launch later in 2017 soon after the global debut with an expected price of Rs. 8.50 lakhs.
The next generation Swift will be revealed globally in a few days of time and eventually make it to the Indian markets in 2017. The big news is that Maruti is considering launching the performance oriented Swift Sport in India later in 2017. It will be offered with a bigger engine and performance parts.
The Maruti Swift Sport will be powered by a 1.4-litre BoosterJet turbocharged petrol engine. This engine will be locally manufactured by Maruti in India alongside the smaller 3-cylinder 1.0-litre BoosterJet engine. The difference between the 1.0-litre and 1.4-litre BoosterJet is the addition of a cylinder in the latter.
The suspension, tyres and brakes of the Maruti Swift Sport will be tuned to offer better performance and sporty dynamics. The previous 2 generations of the Swift also came in the Sport guis but Maruti is finally considering the new gen Sport version to launch in India with the increasing trend of performance hatchback.
If launched, the Maruti Swift Sport will compete with the likes of the Volkswagen Polo GTI and Abarth Punto siblings. It will get souped up exteriors with large airdams and rear diffuser. The interiors will also get sporty elements and dark colour tones. The pricing is expected to be Rs. 8.50 lakhs, which is very competitive.
