The 2017 Yamaha R15 V3.0 has been again spied testing on the roads of Indonesia.

The new spy shots confirm USD forks in the motorcycle

The 2017 Yamaha R15 V3.0 has been again spied testing in Indonesia. The third iteration of the 150cc track focused bike is long awaited since the second generation model was launched in 2011. The R15 has been famous among enthusiast as the first small capacity track focused bike before the advent of the KTM siblings.

The new model is expected to get a host of new upgrades. The latest spy shots have confirmed the presence of premium USD forks in the motorcycle. The power output in the new model is expected to be around 18-20 BHP considering the Suzuki GSX-R 150 comes with 18.2 BHP.

In the design department, it has been made sharper and more in line with the M-Slaz that is already available in the Indonesian market which includes a lowered pillion seat, wheel design, exhaust and other visual cues. It also gets new LED headlamps up front and a new tail section. The design of the tail section has also been revealed in the latest spy shots which is slimmer and looks a lot like the one found on the Yamaha R6.

The powertrain is expected to retain its single overhead cam layout, keeping the engine compact. A DOHC setup though beneficial utilises extra space. To compensate, Yamaha is believed to be set to introduce Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) which will help create the required amount of power at low, mid as well as high engine revs.

The new R15 will go more premium and as expected the prices will go up as well. The bike is expected to be launched in India sometime in 2017 at a price of around 1.3-1.5 lakhs.
