DSK Benelli have cleared the ARAI clearance processes for the Tornado 302R and bookings for the motorcycle are now open.

A full-fairing and split headlamps differentiates it from the TNT 300

The Tornado 302R was supposed to be launched in India earlier this year, but due to delays in getting the clearances from ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India), the launch has been pushed to next month. DSK Benelli has now obtained all the clearances from ARAI and the 300cc segment will get another offering.

Looks wise, the Tornado 302R looks distinctive to its naked sibling the TNT 300, only up-front. There are the split headlamps and of course, the full fairing that separates it from the TNT 300. The rear is however similar to the TNT 300. The suspension setup is the same as on the TNT 300, an upside down fork at the front and a monoshock suspension at the rear. The Tornado 302R gets a new and lighter chassis and a steel trellis frame compared to the TNT 300. The engine is the same 300cc, twin-cylinder unit that puts out 37 HP of power and 27 Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed transmission.

The Tornado 302R is expected to be priced around Rs. 3.5 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). Prices remain aggressive as Benelli is locally assembling the bike here in India. The 300cc segment will witness a slew of launches this year as the TVS Akula 310 is also expected to make it to India this year. The Benelli Tornado 302R will compete against the Yamaha YZF R3 and Kawasaki Ninja 300.
