ABS on the Suzuki Gixxer SF Special Edition is unlikely to be offered

Suzuki is all set to launch the Gixxer SF Special Edition in India very soon and this motorcycle is rumoured to get ABS, according to the leaked brochure. Last year, Suzuki equipped the Gixxer and Gixxer SF with an optional rear disc brake.

The ABS variant of the Gixxer SF will be the range topping variant and will feature fuel-injection technology as well as dual-disc brakes as usual. The Suzuki Gixxer SF Special Edition will also get a completely new set of graphics. Other features and equipment on the Gixxer SF Special Edition remain similar to the regular Gixxer SF.

The Suzuki Gixxer SF Special Edition is equipped with 41 mm telescopic forks upfront and a monoshock at the rear. A 266 mm disc at the front and a 240 mm disc at the rear take care of braking duties. A dual-channel ABS will ensure the motorcycle won’t skid or lock its wheels in case of panic braking but we doubt it will be offered.

The 17-inch alloys at both the ends are wrapped in 100 section tyre upfront and a 140 section tyre at the rear. Coming to the engine, the Suzuki Gixxer SF Special Edition will continue to be powered by the same 155cc single-cylinder, air-cooled and fuel-injected unit that produces 14.8 HP of power and 14 Nm of torque. This motor comes matched to a 5-speed gearbox.

The Suzuki Gixxer SF is priced at Rs. 93,032/- (ex-showroom, Delhi), expect the Gixxer SF Special Edition to be priced at a premium of up to Rs. 3000/-. If ABS is offered, that premium could stretch to over Rs. 15,000/-.
