In Moon White shade, the Avenger 220 Cruise is an absolute eye-candy

Ever since its debut in 2005, the Avenger has been a moneymaker for Bajaj Auto. In September 2015, the domestic automaker came up with updated versions in Cruise and Street styles. A 150cc version was also introduced at the same time. After recent spotting of a camouflaged test mule, enthusiasts had rightly anticipated an improved version of the cruiser. The 2018 Bajaj Avenger 220 range, comprising of the 220 Street and 220 Cruise, is finally here with many cosmetic changes and new colour options. Both the versions are priced at Rs. 93,466/- (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Starting with the visual changes on the Cruise 220, the cruiser now gets a new headlamp design with integrated LED DRLs, front windshield, revised graphics and an integrated tail-lamp with a halo effect. On the other hand, the Street 220 gets a roadster design headlamp with integrated DRL, headlamp shroud, new graphics, integrated tail-lamp with halo effect and a rubberised grip for the grab rail. Both the motorcycles get a larger Avenger badging on either side of the fuel tank.

For the 2018 models, the instrument cluster has been upgraded to a full-digital unit from the analogue cluster seen on the outgoing model. While the cluster is orange-backlit in the Street 220, the Cruise 220’s console lights up in a soothing blue shade. There are no changes to the mechanicals and the motorcycles continue to use a 219.9cc, air-cooled, DTS-i engine which puts out 18.8 BHP of power at 8400 RPM and 17.5 Nm of torque at 7000 RPM. The motor comes mated to a 5-speed transmission.

The 2018 lineup comes with two colour schemes for each of the styles. While the 220 Street now comes in Matte Black and Matte White, the 220 Cruise offers Moon White and Auburn Black as colour options. Sadly, ABS has been given a miss this time as well. Meanwhile, the company was also rumoured to replace the 150 Street with a more powerful version, possibly equipped with a 180cc engine, which is nowhere to be seen as of now.
