The Ciaz has been updated with a new engine and revised exteriors and interiors.
The highly anticipated update for Maruti’s C-segment sedan, the 2018 Ciaz has been unveiled. The car now has more appealing interiors, more features and gets a new engine option which is more powerful yet efficient. The price of the sedan starts at Rs. 8.19 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The 2018 Maruti Suzuki lets go of the 1.4-litre petrol engine and instead gets a bigger 1.5-litre petrol engine. Maruti Suzuki has also given it its SHVS mild-hybrid technology. It has been tuned to output 103.5 HP at 6000 RPM and 138 Nm of peak torque at 4400 RPM.
The petrol engine, when paired with the manual transmission returns a claimed mileage of 21.56 km/l, the best in the segment. The company is also offering a 4-speed automatic gearbox and this one returns a slightly lower but still very respectable 20.28 km/l. The other engine option will continue to be the 1.3-litre diesel motor that outputs 88.5 HP at 4000 RPM and 200 Nm of peak torque from 1750 RPM. This one too comes with the SHVS mild-hybrid tech and has a claimed mileage of 28.09 km/l.
Features for the 2018 Maruti Ciaz include a new infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity, revamped LED headlights, DRLs and fog lights. The rear remains more or less the same with slight chrome inserts. We Indians love bling and the company has used plenty of chrome in and around the car. The interiors are wrapped in new upholstery and get a lighter shade of wood accent. Safety too is enhanced with an ESC, hill assist and cruise control.
Maruti’s domination in the mass market vehicle segment should continue with the 2018 Ciaz that is most likely to sell in good numbers. The new car has received considerable updates that will allow it to stand its ground against the likes of the Honda City and the Toyota Yaris. At a price of Rs. 8.19 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi), you just cannot ignore the 2018 Ciaz.
