The 2018 range gets a significant bump in power output in addition to new features

Over the years, the Triumph Speed Triple range has received a healthy number of updates to stand where it is now. The British manufacturer had updated the popular street-fighter back in 2016 endowing it with as many as 104 changes related to the powertrain. This year, the company has taken the covers off the 2018 Triumph Speed Triple range to make the package more desirable than ever.

Available in S and top-of-the-range RS variants, the motorcycle is expected to make it to India later this year. The MY2018 models get additional 105 changes to the 1050cc three-cylinder engine that now witnesses a 7% hike in power and 4% hike in torque output. Peak power and torque figures stand at 148 HP and around 117 Nm respectively. The motor comes paired to an improved 6-speed manual gearbox with a slip-assist clutch.

The duo looks visually sharper with the addition of DRLs and revised graphics while the range-topping RS is one step ahead with its Arrow exhaust setup, carbon fibre bodywork and matte aluminium sub-frame. Braking is performed by dual 320 mm disc brakes at the front and single 255 mm disc brake at the rear while the suspension setup (USD forks up front and monoshock at the rear) on the RS variant comes from Ohlins.

The 2018 Triumph Speed Triple come equipped with cornering ABS, traction control, cruise control and a new 5.0-inch TFT instrument cluster among various other electronics. There are four riding modes on the S (Road, Rain, Sport and Custom) while the RS gets an additional Track mode. Colour options on offer include Crystal White, Jet Black (exclusive to S) and Matte Jet Black (exclusive to RS).

Triumph will announce prices for global markets on 26th February and is expected to launch the 2018 range in India later this year.
