At the launch event of the Apache RR 310, TVS confirmed that the new Apache 160 4V will be launched in India very soon. The automaker hasn’t confirmed on the exact launch timeline yet but expect the refreshed Apache 160 to be launched by January 2018. The company is likely to showcase the motorcycle at the 2018 Auto Expo, to be held in February.

The entry-level Apache has been spied testing various times. The motorcycle draws design inspiration from the Apache 200 and rivals the Bajaj Pulsar NS 160, Suzuki Gixxer and Honda CB Hornet 160R. However, unlike the Apache 200, the 2018 Apache 160 gets a skinnier rear tyre, loses out on a rear disc brake, split seats and the 10-spoke alloy wheels as seen in the Apache 200. Nonetheless, it still gets the full-digital instrument console, rear monoshock and the double barrel exhaust from the Apache 200.

The new Apache 160 will continue to be powered by the same 160cc motor that is seen in the current model but it will get 4 valves instead of 2. Mated to a 5-speed gearbox, the 159.7cc powerplant produces 15.2 HP of power and 13.1 Nm of torque. The motorcycle uses a front petal disc brake and a rear drum brake (is likely to get a rear disc brake as an option). The current Apache 160 retails at Rs. 77,865/- (ex-showroom, Delhi) and we expect the updated motorcycle to be priced at a premium of Rs. 4000-5000/-.
