The new generation BMW Z4 is being offered in India in two variants – sDrive20i and M40i.

The new BMW Z4 looks relatively sharper and sporty

The new generation BMW Z4 has arrived in India via CBU route and is being offered in two variants. The sDrive20i is priced at Rs. 64.90 lakhs while the range topping Z4 M40i is priced at Rs. 78.90 lakhs (all prices, ex-showroom). The sDrive20i is being offered with Sport Line and M Sport package. Both come with visual changes, the M Sport trim, as the name suggests, offers sporty styling.

The latest iteration of the Z4 is being offered with a soft top while the previous generation had a hard top. It now looks more sharp thanks to the new aggressive design language. The kidney grille has grown in size while the bumpers have bigger air intakes. It looks very aerodynamic from the side profile having huge vents on the fenders. The rear gets sleek tail lights and looks mature than the outgoing model. BMW is offering 17-inch wheels as standard while the Sport Line package comes with 18-inch and M Sport with massive 19-inch rims.

The interior gets all the latest tech which you have seen on the new lot of BMWs. It is a 2-seater roadster and the soft top opens and closes electrically in ten seconds with a push of a button. The new dashboard layout along with the sporty steering wheel and gear lever looks upmarket. The BMW ConnectedDrive features BMW Live Cockpit Professional with BMW Operating System 7.0 having a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a high-resolution touchscreen infotainment display.

Some of the features include digital instrument cluster with adaptive Navigation GPS system and 3D maps, new BMW iDrive with touch controller, wireless Apple CarPlay, Active Park Distance Control (PDC), Parking Assistant function, Driving Assistant function, Harman Kardon with 12 speakers and 408 Watts of output, full-colour BMW Head-Up Display and wireless charging.

The BMW Z4 sDrive20i comes with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that churns out 197 BHP at 4500 RPM and 320 Nm of torque at 1450-4200. It has a top speed of 240 km/hr and can do 0-100 km/hr in 6.6 seconds. BMW claims a fuel efficiency of 14.37 km/l for the sDrive20i.

The performance oriented Z4 M40i is powered by a 3.0-litre, in-line 6 petrol engine that produces 340 BHP at 5000-6000 RPM with 500 Nm of torque at 1600-4500 RPM. It has a top speed of 250 km/hr with 0-100 km/hr acceleration time of 4.5 seconds. Both the engines are mated to a 8-speed Steptronic Sport Transmission. The M40i returns a claimed fuel efficiency of 12.82 km/l.
