The AMG G63 retains the boxy design from its predecessor

Mercedes-Benz India has launched the latest version of one of the most iconic SUVs in the world, the G-Class. In 1979 the first civilian version of the G-Wagon was launched. The latest G-Class retains the same boxy silhouette from before.

The interiors of the 2019 Mercedes G63 have been completely reworked and many parts are also taken directly from the S-Class. The car features two 12.3-inch screens, one for the instrument cluster and other for the infotainment unit. The vehicle comes with the latest MBUX infotainment system with gesture control. The seats are wrapped with Nappa leather along with an option of Macchiato Beige.

There are all-new headlights with built-in DRLs. The new G-Class is 40 mm taller, 101 mm longer and 121 mm wider than before. Under the hood is the same V8 from the Mercedes-AMG GT. The AMG 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox that churns out 576.7 BHP and 850 Nm of torque. As it’s a Mercedes-Benz SUV, the power from the engine goes to all four wheels via the 4MATIC AWD system.

Despite weighing 2 tonnes, the G63 can sprint from 0-100 km/hr in just 4.5 seconds. The top speed of the SUV has been electronically limited to 220 km/hr but with the optional AMG Driver’s package, the car can stretch to a 240 km/hr mark. With light input on the throttle pedal, the new G63 shuts down four of its cylinders to increase the fuel efficiency by 0.43 km/l. With plenty of driver assists and safety aids, the Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 is a go anywhere SUV.
