Suzuki has commenced bookings for the 2019 Hayabusa in India. The 2019 model of the Suzuki GSX-1300R Hayabusa can be booked for an amount of Rs 1 lakh. The updated version of the bike will offer two new colour schemes – ‘Grey with Red’ and ‘Black with Grey’. However, apart from the additional colours, the Hayabusa remains unchanged.

The motorcycle continues to be powered by a 1339cc liquid-cooled, in-line four-cylinder engine producing 199 HP and 155 Nm. The motor is paired to a 6-speed gearbox and comes with three riding modes.

The Suzuki Hayabusa has been a popular motorcycle in the Indian market thanks to its stellar straight line performance and relative ease of ownership. The 2019 model has been priced at Rs. 13.74 lakhs. In comparison, the Hayabusa’s closest rival, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R is priced at Rs. 19.70 lakhs (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).

The 2019 Suzuki Hayabusa continues to come to India via the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route and is assembled at Suzuki’s facility in Gurgaon. Dealers say that the delivery of the bike will begin from 20th January, 2019.

The name ‘Hayabusa’ is Japanese for ‘Peregrine Falcon’. It was named the fastest production motorcycle in 1999. It now has an electronically limited top speed of 299 km/hr.

Suzuki has officially ended the 20-year long production of the Hayabusa in many international markets. The company has discontinued the Hayabusa in Japan and Europe due to stricter emission standards. However, the Hayabusa will be sold in India and the US until further notice with the third generation model planned for launch in 2020.
