2021 Maruti Celerio Launch
The hatchback has grown in size for its second generation, likely to offer good interior space

The 2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio launch is set to take place by October this year and the second generation car is expected to be a step above the current model.

To be built using the “HEARTECT” platform, as the Wagon R, the new Celerio is likely to be bigger, as seen in previous spy shots, have a longer wheelbase and thus have more interior space than its predecessor.

Styling of the car will also be new, both on the exterior and the interior, but parts are likely to be shared from other cars in the manufacturer’s expansive product range, such as interior switches, equipment, among other items.

Previous spy shots have revealed that at least the top-spec car will likely come with ORVMs with indicators, projector headlights, LED tail lamps, rear wiper, among other features such as automatic AC, steering mounted controls, touchscreen infotainment system, rear-view camera, and several safety aids.

Engine-wise, the 2021 Maruti Celerio launch will see the introduction of the 1.2-litre K-series petrol motor in the car along side the existing 1.0-litre petrol engine, just like in the Wagon R. It will come mated to a 5-speed manual and an AMT.

Expect Maruti to price the 2021 Celerio aggressively to take on rivals such as the Hyundai Santro and the Tata Tiago. More details will be revealed closer to the car’s launch, so watch this space.
