2021 Skoda Octavia India Launch
The premium sedan has striking lines throughout the exterior

Skoda will launch the 2021 Octavia in India by the end of April. However, the carmaker has commenced the D-segment sedan’s pre-launch activities already.

Recently, a private unveiling of the premium sedan was held for a select group of individuals. But, before speaking about the design, shall we take a moment to geek over those alloy wheels set to be offered on the Laurin & Klement variant?

Well, to be frank, it is not just the wheels, the whole car does have a striking presence. Upfront, the model showcased recently has sleek LED headlights that flank the radiator grille, the size of which is debatable, while the fog lights connected by chrome applique sit in the bumper on either side of the wide air dam.

When looked at from the sides, the Octavia features a short front overhang and a fairly large rear overhang, while the wheelbase seems quite long as well.

Further, the windscreen is very much raked and the glasshouse seems to be fairly decently sized. The windows get chrome garnish, the ORVMs feature blinkers and the side profile is very neat, only elevated by the choice of wheels.

No rear image of the privately showcased car is available as of now. However, we do know that the D-segment sedan will feature a hatch at the rear, split LED tail lamps and a neat bumper.

People who prefer a modern and classy interior in their car would like the 2021 Octavia, for the layout of the stepped 2-tone dashboard, the simple centre console, 2-spoke steering wheel, digital screens, all provide a premium aura.

There is a gloss black inlay that runs across the width of the dashboard, while almost all of the button clusters feature chrome surround, that provides good contrast.

As mentioned above, the Octavia will come with 2 digital screens – a 10.25-inch one for the digital instrument cluster and 10-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. Of course, the car will come with the latest features.

When the 2021 Skoda Octavia India launch takes place, customers can spec the car with either a 1.5-litre turbo petrol or a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine. Gearbox options will include a 6-speed manual for the smaller engine and a 7-speed DSG for the 2.0-litre mill.

However, considering the fact that the Kushaq, which will be launched in June, will get the 7-speed DSG with the 1.5-litre engine, Skoda should offer the same combination on the Octavia to drive sales, especially when the D-segment is not attracting buyers as it used to due to the dominance of SUVs.
