After a lot of speculations, spy shots and wait, the 2021 Toyota Fortuner is officially revealed. Yes there are a lot of changes in the mid-life update but no significant updates apart from the engine.

As we’ve seen in the spy pictures, the front profile looks sharper. Gets new LED headlights, revised bumper and larger grille. There are new 18-inch diamond cut alloys and new LED tail lights with new bumper at the rear.

The Legender variant you see in the pictures has a more sporty styling. Comes with black inserts as well.

The interior is more or less the same with slight visual tweaks and more features. However, there is still no sunroof on offer. The dashboard looks exactly the same. Steering wheel design is the same.

There is a larger 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system on offer. Legender variant gets bigger 9-inch unit. Also, you get wireless charger in the front. Moreover, it comes with a 9-speaker JBL audio system. There is a 360 degree parking camera too.

Toyota is offering 8-way power adjustable driver and co-driver seat. There is LED ambient lighting too for added premium touch.

New safety features include collision prevention system, lane departure warning and radar-guided dynamic cruise control. New Variable Flow Control tweaks steering weight depending on the speed.

While the rest of the engine options remain unchanged, the 2.8-litre diesel is now much more powerful. The oil burner now produces 204 PS and 500 Nm torque. That means 27 PS and 50 Nm more!

Moreover, Toyota claims it’ll be 17 percent more fuel efficient now. This engine comes with 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options globally.

India launch of the new Fortuner is likely to be in 2021. Toyota might drop some features to get the pricing right in India. Meanwhile, a special edition Fortuner will be introduced in our country for stop gap measure.
