2022 Hyundai Tucson Spied
The new Tucson will sport brand-new styling

Hyundai had covered the 2022 Tucson spied recently to conceal its identity

The model year 2022 (MY22) Hyundai Tucson has been spied in Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu recently which indicates that Hyundai will soon introduce the SUV in the market.

Unveiled globally in September 2020, the fourth-generation Tucson came with an all-new exterior design, which has since been applied to the Hyundai Santa Cruz.

The upcoming 2022 Creta facelift, expected to be introduced to the market soon, will also borrow the front end styling of the 2022 Tucson.

However, in order to conceal the identity of the recently spied 2022 Tucson, Hyundai had covered the SUV pretty well, leaving only the roof, windscreen and windows as is.

But, the design of the ‘Parametric Jewel’ grille and the low-set headlamps which can be seen up front along with the crease on the front fender and the unique shape of the wheel arches do reveal the car’s identity.

Sporting machined alloy wheels, the new generation Tucson also had silver-coloured roof rails and generous chrome window garnish.

The SUV will also sport a full-width tail lamp incorporating half-hidden triangular shapes, a diffuser at the back and the rear windscreen will house the brand emblem.

Inside, the new generation Tucson will come with a dual tone interior, although an all-black cabin theme could also be offered, a wraparound dash, and minimal switchgear.

In terms of features, the SUV should be equipped with a 10.25-inch driver’s cluster, 10.25-inch touchscreen, Blue Link, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, ambient lighting, premium sound system, among others.

Overseas, the 2022 Tucson comes with a 2.5-litre petrol (190 PS and 247 Nm), whereas hybrid models make use of a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol (230 PS and 350 Nm). It also gets an all-wheel drive system.

The Indian model could make use of the current Tucson’s 2.0-litre petrol and diesel motors and their corresponding automatic gearboxes. Until an official word comes from Hyundai, one cannot be sure though.

Nonetheless, since Hyundai is road-testing the new Tucson in India, the SUV should be introduced to the market either later this year or early next year.
