The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee has spotted and will be launched in India by September this year

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee has been spotted in India for the first time. The luxury SUV was revealed globally only 3 months ago.

Spotted by MotorBeamer Vishva Ragunathan in the State of Maharashtra, the development mule of the SUV which will likely be assembled in the country was completely camouflaged.

India is expected to only get the 5-seat version of the Grand Cherokee which is also sold in 3-row ‘L’ form in select overseas markets.

This fifth-generation Grand Cherokee is based on a new architecture and thus gets a fresh design out and out. The signature 7-slot grille remains in place, and the car also has LED lights, large greenhouse, a wide variety of wheels up to 21 inch in size.

Stepping inside, one would find a new cabin with leather seats (front ones are electrically adjustable with massage and heating function), a 10.1-inch digital cluster, 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 10.25-inch front passenger touchscreen, 10-inch head-up display, rear-seat entertainment system, and many other features.

In India, the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee, spotted recently, is expected to come with a 3.6-litre V6 tuned to produce 293 HP and 352 Nm and teamed to an 8-speed automatic gearbox sending the drive to all the wheels.

The 4xe plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model, with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol (paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission featuring an electric motor) assisted by a motor generator unit and making a total of 375 HP and 637 Nm, is also expected to be made available here.

That model has a 17 kWh battery pack and will come with a pure-electric range of 40 km and still be able to do a fair bit of off-roading, including fording waters up to 610 mm deep.

It is only by September that Jeep is expected to launch the new Grand Cherokee in India and the luxury SUV should cost over Rs. 65 lakhs (ex-showroom). Before that though, this year, Jeep will launch the Trailhawk variant of the facelifted Compass next month and the upcoming 3-row Meridian around June.
