2022 Maruti Baleno Production
Production of the car began in Gujarat last week

The booking process of the 2022 Maruti Baleno has begun just weeks before the car’s scheduled market launch

Maruti Nexa dealers have opened the order books for the 2022 Baleno and the booking amount varies from 1 outlet to another, as the carmaker has yet to reveal the official token amount.

To be launched in February, the heavily revised premium hatchback has been spotted multiple times on public roads and has been much talked about in recent times.

Mass production of the car that will come with a new front end and rear profile commenced last week. The hatchback will come with a new set of alloy wheels as well as fresh lights and bumpers.

While some might argue that the Baleno still looks like, erm… a Baleno despite the changes on the outside, inside, people will find the changes to be more drastic.

2022 Maruti Baleno Booking
The Baleno’s competitors, the Tata Altroz and Hyundai i20, are far behind in terms of sales

The dashboard is all new, so is the touchscreen and air vents and steering wheel. There will be more features on offer than before as Maruti wants to ensure that the Baleno retains its top spot in the segment for the foreseeable future.

As such, the car will come equipped with (based on the grade selected of course) a head-up display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, cruise control, up to 6 airbags and Electronic Stability Program (ESP).

Interestingly, the 2022 Maruti Baleno, booking process for which has commenced unofficially, will come with the same 1.2-litre petrol motors, 1 of which gets mild-hybrid assistance, but with a 5-speed manual and, instead of the CVT, an AMT.

Expect the refreshed Baleno to cost more than the pre-facelift model that is being retailed between Rs. 6.14 lakhs and Rs. 9.66 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) at present.
