2022 Maruti Baleno Front
Unlike the revised Maruti Baleno, the Toyota Glanza will have a subtly different front end

The 2022 Toyota Glanza will be introduced in the market next month

Dealers of Toyota have begun accepting bookings for the 2022 Glanza from customers who like the facelifted Maruti Baleno but prefer the Toyota badge.

To be launched in March, the refreshed Toyota Glanza will look almost identical to the 2022 Baleno. Almost, as in, there will be some visible differences between the 2 models, that admittedly will still be subtle.

The 2022 Toyota Glanza will come with different DRLs when compared to the car it is based on. It will also have a different front bumper and new (8-spoke) dual tone alloy wheels.

While it is not known if the radiator grille has been revised (chances are it has been), it is pretty likely that the rear bumper will also look mildly different to the same part on the 2022 Baleno.

Stepping inside the revised Glanza, people would notice that the cabin is identical to the facelifted Baleno’s. But, there will be a different colour scheme and the upholstery should be different as well.

However, the list of equipment will be carried forward from Maruti’s premium hatchback as is. This is a good thing, as the Hyundai i20 rival comes with features like full LED lights, 9-inch infotainment touchscreen, head-up display, connected car tech, Alexa connect, 360-degree camera, auto-dimming IRVM, and more.

Safety features such as up to 6 airbags, seat belt reminder for front passengers, ABS, EBD, ESP, Hill Hold Assist, ISOFIX anchorages and Brake Assist, the same ones the Maruti hatchback comes with, will be on offer.

The mode has been fetching decent numbers ever since Toyota began selling it

Now, for the most important part – the engine. Maruti offers the revised Baleno with only a 1.2-litre petrol motor (88.5 BHP and 113 Nm) with idle start-stop (ISS) tech and 2 gearbox options (5-speed manual and AMT). The other 1.2-litre engine with mild-hybrid assistance has been axed.

The 2022 Toyota Glanza should also come with the same engine and gearbox options, although one cannot completely exclude the possibility of the Japanese firm sticking with the mild-hybrid engine to further differentiate its premium hatch from Maruti’s car.

At present, the Glanza costs between Rs. 7.70 lakhs and Rs. 9.66 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The facelifted version should come with a similar asking price.
