2023 Toyota Fortuner GR Sport gets more power and torque

2023 Toyota Fortuner launched in Thailand offering some new updates and better performance figures. The updated model comes with a price tag of 1.939 million baht (Rs. 46 lakhs).

The Toyota Fortuner is available in three variants in Thailand – Leader, Legender and GR Sport. All the variants have got new updates but the GR Sport gets a bump in power and torque figures.

The 2.8-litre diesel engine under the hood now produces 224 PS and 550 Nm of torque. This makes it 20 PS and 50 Nm more powerful than the outgoing GR Sport model in Thailand. This engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission and it comes with 4WD setup.

The updated model gets a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system which now supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Tyre pressure monitoring now comes standard across all variants. The entry-level Leader trim now gets wireless smartphone charging.

The GR Sport comes with GR-specific exterior styling, monotube dampers, GR-specific brakes, 20-inch wheels, aluminium pedals, GR-branded sports seats, key fob and push start button. The SUV is also equipped with Toyota Safety Sense.

We hope Toyota introduces this mild update in India without increasing the price drastically. The GR Sport trim with more performance on offer will make things exciting for enthusiasts. More features with an update for India are also welcome.

The Japanese carmaker is currently developing the new generation Fortuner, which is expected to make its debut later next year. It will get a completely new design direction and revamped interior as well along with more engine options including strong hybrid powertrains.
