2026 Jeep Compass leaked, revealing a boxier design and electrified variants
Jeep Compass second generation has surfaced ahead of its official unveiling, with leaked images offering the first comprehensive look at the production-ready SUV. The new model promises significant changes both in design and underpinnings, preparing to enter the European market with a diverse lineup of electrified powertrains.
Built on Stellantis’ STLA Medium Platform
The upcoming Compass is set to transition onto Stellantis’ STLA Medium architecture, a move that will align it with other modern offerings within the conglomerate, including the latest Citroen C5 Aircross. This change under the skin is expected to bring a host of benefits including enhanced ride quality, modern connectivity features, and support for various levels of electrification—from hybrid to all-electric variants.
A More Rugged, Boxier Design Language
Stylistically, the new Compass reflects a noticeable evolution in Jeep’s design philosophy. Drawing inspiration from the larger Grand Cherokee and Grand Wagoneer, the SUV adopts a more angular, upright profile. The front fascia maintains Jeep’s signature seven-slot grille, now appearing more sculpted and flanked by slim rectangular headlamps that integrate vertically oriented LED daytime running lights.
Leaked images reveal differentiated styling across variants. The Trailhawk, finished in white, features chunkier bumpers, rugged cladding and practical off-road cues like a tow hook and a mesh-style lower intake. In contrast, a lime green variant—presumably an electric model based on the ‘e’ badge—exhibits cleaner bodywork, sleeker lower bumper treatments and active grille shutters for improved aerodynamics.
Distinctive Side and Rear Treatments
Along the sides, the Compass retains its muscular stance with squared wheel arches and a dynamic window line that kicks up near the rear quarter. This profile adds a sense of motion and sportiness to its otherwise squared-off design.
At the rear, the SUV sports a blacked-out tail section with modern styling touches, including an integrated light bar, an illuminated Jeep logo and distinctive LED elements with X-shaped motifs. Similar to the front, rear bumper styling will differ across trims, with the Trailhawk expected to carry over its rugged cladding theme.
A Step Forward for Jeep in the Compact SUV Segment
With the leaked visuals offering a near-complete picture of what to expect, the second-generation Jeep Compass appears poised to make a strong impact upon its launch. Blending traditional Jeep cues with modern design and electrified capabilities, it aims to appeal to both brand loyalists and new-age SUV buyers, especially in European markets that are rapidly transitioning to greener mobility options.
Official details, including powertrain specifications, interior features and market rollout timelines, are expected to follow at the global debut event in the coming weeks.
