Porsche has introduced the latest generation 911 in India which is priced from Rs. 1.82 crores (ex-showroom). The 911 gets a broadly re-designed underpinning that is shod with aluminium to form the rear section of the car. This means that the car is now lighter and nimble, the two-door sports car is now wider than the previous version and sits on 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels. With the increased lightness, the rear wing on the vehicle is also wider to provide more downforce.

The Carrera S comes with rear-wheel steering to add more stability to the car and making it more agile than before. The car is also beefed up on the interiors, with the plush interiors giving off the proper Porsche feel. The steering is now revised with multi-function buttons and the instrument cluster parts away with the traditional dials and now comes with a digital display. The digital display also has the rev counter in the centre that gives off a sporty feel to the instrument cluster. The car also gets a nicely finished 10.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that hosts a lot of features that includes, navigation featuring swarm-based data.

Under the hood of the Porsche 911 Carrera S, you get a massive 3.0-litre, flat-six, turbo petrol engine. This engine produces a jaw-dropping 444 BHP, which is 30 BHP more than what it produced previously. The engine is also mated to a specially developed 8-speed dual-clutch transmission by Porsche. Due to the car being lighter and more powerful than its predecessor, 0-100 km/hr is achieved just under 4 seconds, making it blazingly quick off the line. The timings of the 0-100 km/hr run for the Carrera S is 3.7 seconds. If you opt for the Sport Chrono Package, 0.2 seconds are shed off from the sprint.

It is capable of crossing the 300 km/hr mark, with the Carrera S reaching a top speed of 308 km/hr. It also get additional assistance system like the Porsche Wet mode for better traction on surfaces with low grip and to make driving even safer it gets Night Vision Assist with a thermal imaging camera. The car now rivals the Mercedes-AMG GT, Nissan GT-R, Audi R8, and the Lamborghini Huracan in the Indian supercar market.

Along with the launch of the Carrera S Coupe, hitting the Indian supercar markets is the Carrera S Cabriolet. The Cabriolet is the convertible version of the Carrera S and is centred for those who like the wind in the hair feel. The car is similar to the Carrera S in every other aspect, apart from the foldable rooftop. The car is powered by the same flat-six engine that is capable of touching 306 km/hr, but a 0-100 km/hr time of 3.9 seconds. The optional Sport Chrono Package is also on offer with the Cabriolet.
