Hero Xpulse BS6
The 2020 Hero XPulse BS6 gets the same CEAT block tyres as before, for off-road excursions

After displaying the 2020 Hero XPulse 200 BS6 on their official website for months, Hero has finally launched the bike at Rs. 1.11 lakh (ex-showroom). This means that the motorcycle is now dearer by about Rs. 3000/-.

While the engine is BS6 compliant now, the mechanicals remain unchanged overall. The 199cc, single-cylinder, FI engine now produces 17.8 PS of power at 8500 RPM and 16.45 Nm of torque at 6500 RPM. As compared to the BS4 variant, the BS6 Hero XPulse now produces lesser power and torque by 0.6 PS and 0.65 Nm respectively.

While the BS4 engine was very smooth and punchy, it will be interesting to see how the Hero XPulse deals with the deficit in performance. Especially, taking into account that the BS6 model is now 3 kgs heavier. We expect the fuel efficiency to be similar to the previous model, i.e. around 40 km/l.

The Hero XPulse 200 is a unique motorcycle, as it is the only offering in the sub-500cc adventure motorcycle segment. It gets many features such as LED headlamps, LED tail lights, fully digital speedometer, a tall front fender and bash plate for that extra-motocross feel.

The digital instrument cluster also gets Bluetooth connectivity which enables you to get call details and on-screen navigation on the go. This is the first time we’ve seen this feature in this segment, which makes the Hero XPulse even more unique.

While the Hero XPulse 200 remains a value for money motorcycle even after the hike, we would have loved to see a 6-speed gearbox for the BS6 variant and new graphics. The BS6 XPulse will be available in 5 colour options- White, Matte Grey, Matte Green, Sports Red and Panther Black. More BS6-compliant Hero motorcycles are expected to arrive soon.
