KTM has expanded its mid-capacity motorcycle lineup in India with the introduction of new 350cc versions of the 390 Duke and 390 Adventure. These variants are positioned as more accessible alternatives within the 390 range and will be sold alongside the existing 399cc models rather than replacing them.
The 350cc KTM 390 Duke is priced at Rs. 2.77 lakhs, while the 390 Adventure with the same engine comes in at Rs. 2.81 lakhs (ex-showroom). This places both motorcycles roughly Rs. 60,000 – Rs. 62,000 below their 399cc counterparts, creating a noticeable price gap within the lineup.
KTM has also revised the naming of its higher-capacity models for differentiation. The standard 390 Duke is now referred to as the 390 Duke R, while the 390 Adventure range includes variants such as the Adventure X, S and R.
The new variants are powered by a 349.32cc engine producing 41.5 HP at 8600 RPM and 33.5 Nm at 7000 RPM. Compared to the 399cc engine, this represents a reduction of around 4.5 HP and 5.5 Nm.
Despite the smaller engine, KTM has retained key elements of the motorcycles. The chassis setup, wheelbase, ground clearance, and overall ergonomics remain unchanged. Feature-wise, both bikes continue to offer equipment such as TFT displays and electronic rider aids seen on the larger-capacity versions.
The introduction of these variants creates a wider spread within KTM’s lineup, offering buyers more flexibility depending on budget and performance expectations. The reduced price point could attract new customers who may have previously found the 390 range out of reach.
At the same time, the relatively small difference in output between the 350cc and 399cc engines raises questions about value, particularly for buyers deciding whether the added performance justifies the higher price of the larger models.
Another aspect to watch is the potential impact on KTM’s 250cc range. With the price gap between the 250 and 350 variants narrowing, there could be some overlap in buyer consideration.
By introducing these new variants alongside the existing lineup, KTM appears to be expanding its offering rather than streamlining it. This approach allows the brand to cater to a wider audience while maintaining its presence across multiple price points in the performance motorcycle segment.
