A senior delegation from Ford Motor Company met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Monday to discuss the company’s manufacturing roadmap, expansion of its Global Capability Centres (GCCs), and potential future investments in the state.
The meeting, held at the Tamil Nadu Secretariat, was led by Ford Vice President Mathew Godlewski and included senior officials from Ford India. Discussions primarily focused on the company’s Maraimalai Nagar facility and ways to accelerate planned manufacturing activities.
According to Tamil Nadu Industries Minister S. Keerthana, the state government reiterated its support for Ford’s expansion plans. The Chief Minister encouraged the automaker to make full use of its existing manufacturing infrastructure at Maraimalai Nagar while pursuing additional investments in the state.
The Ford delegation included Ford India Managing Director Simonetta Verdi, Production Director Dheeraj Dikshit, Country Director Shripad Bhat, and Director V. Raja Vimala Kumar.
The meeting follows the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Ford and the Tamil Nadu government last year for engine manufacturing at the Maraimalai Nagar plant. Under the agreement, the automaker proposed an investment of ₹3,250 crore to establish engine production at the facility.
While the latest discussions indicate continued engagement between Ford and the Tamil Nadu government, no fresh investment announcements or timelines were disclosed following the meeting.
