Buell 1125R India

After the split up with Honda, Hero MotoCorp is now gearing up to enter into segment that previously it couldn’t get into because of the tie-up. One such segment is the 250cc and above segment where literally Hero MotoCorp has got absolutely zero presence. With the Indian bike market showing strong positive market demand for 250cc and above displacement bikes, the country’s largest bike maker is definitely willing to bring out its own products in such segments. To do so, Hero MotoCorp has tied up with US based racing bike maker, Eric Buell Racing (EBR) for technology sharing.

The tie-up with EBR would help Hero Motocorp to bring out high powered sporty motorcycles at aggressive prices in the Indian market. Mr. Pawan Munjal, the MD and CEO of Hero Motocorp told that the tie-up with EBR was a part of the company’s conscious and strategic efforts to go global. The company is also actively looking at overseas markets like United States and European countries. It is expected that the high displacement bikes from Hero MotoCorp will be hitting the market by 2014. Currently the Karizma ZMR is the most powerful Hero motorcycle on sale but a 250cc offering from Hero is expected soon.

Mr. Munjal also reiterated the company’s commitment to continue to deliver cost effective commuter segment motorcycles in future, a segment in which Hero has ruled all throughout in India. There are possibilities of the big bikes being manufactured either in India or overseas markets and Mr. Munjal refused to divulge much details about it.
