Apple CarPlay iOS 27

Apple has announced a series of updates for CarPlay as part of its latest software ecosystem unveiled during its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). The enhancements are expected to arrive alongside the next generation of operating systems later this year.

Among the key additions is support for video applications within CarPlay. The new capability will allow developers to build apps capable of streaming video content on compatible vehicle infotainment systems. Users will also be able to mirror video from their iPhones through AirPlay. To address safety concerns, video playback will only be available when the vehicle is parked.

Apple is also introducing several usability improvements aimed at enhancing the in-car experience. These include audio scrubbing controls within the Now Playing interface, a compact audio mini-player that can remain active while using other apps and improvements to navigation accuracy.

The company confirmed that its latest AI-powered Siri experience will extend to CarPlay as well. However, access to these advanced Siri features will require an iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max or newer supported models.

The updated CarPlay features will be part of Apple’s upcoming software release cycle. The developer beta version is already available, while a public beta is expected to launch in the coming weeks. A wider rollout is anticipated later this year alongside Apple’s next-generation iPhone lineup.
