The Aprilia STX 150 has a regular commuter-like design with basic features.

The recent annual dealers’ meet held by Piaggio in Goa did turn out to be pretty functional as a wide range of scooters and motorcycles were showcased. However, one of the surprise elements was the presence of the Aprilia STX 150, a street-fighter commuter motorcycle.

Now, it is for sure that Aprilia brought the STX 150 at the meet in order to gauge the response of its dealers regarding the motorcycle. It is an entry-level motorcycle that is sold in a very few markets like New Zealand and Singapore.

The Aprilia STX 150 does not have a very fancy design and looks like any other commuter in the 150cc segment. The headlight is quite sharp with a slightly sculpted fuel tank. However, the suspension setup is quite basic as the rear gets twin shock absorbers instead of a monoshock unit.

The motorcycle is powered by a 149cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine which is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The Singapore-spec model rides on 17-inch wheels with 90/90 profile tyres at both ends. The braking duties are done by a 240 mm disc brake up front while the rear has a 104 mm drum.

According to sources, the response from the dealers at the meet regarding the Aprilia STX 150 hasn’t been positive. Aprilia has a reputation of being a premium brand in India and introducing an entry-level commuter model would just dilute its brand value. Hence, the STX 150 is highly unlikely to be launched here.
