Ashok Leyland Stile Price

Ashok Leyland has launched the Stile MPV in India, which is a rebadged Nissan Evalia intended to cater to the commercial vehicle segment. While the Nissan Evalia comes with a starting price of Rs. 8.70 lakhs, the Ashok Leyland Stile retails from Rs. 7.49 lakhs (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). The Stile will be available across 130 outlets of Ashok Leyland. The lower pricing is a result of a detuned engine and reduced features on the Stile. Ashok Leyland has launched the Stile in three variants with power steering and air conditioning offered as standard across the range.

The Ashok Leyland Stile is powered by the same Renault sourced 1.5-litre k9k diesel engine that produces a lower 75 BHP of power with 185 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The Nissan Evalia produces 85 BHP of power with 200 Nm of torque and returns a claimed mileage of 19.3 km/l. The detuning has improved the fuel efficiency of the Stile, which is now said to be rated at 22.5 km/l. The targeted audience for Ashok Leyland’s latest offering is hotel shuttles, taxi services, ambulances, etc.

The Stile MPV has been developed under a joint venture between Ashok Leyland and Nissan. The joint venture has previously launched a light commercial vehicle, Dost. Ashok Leyland can expect higher volumes from the Stile compared to the Nissan Evalia, as the former gets a price advantage and is targeted at the right segment. The Nissan Evalia is a slow seller because of its ergonomically challenged cabin, styling and price positioning. Nissan is working on a facelift for the Evalia, due for launch later this year.
