Apple CarPlay Ultra To Roll Out On Aston Martin Vehicles In Coming Weeks

Apple is releasing the next generation of CarPlay, known as the Apple CarPlay Ultra. The updated CarPlay will be available with new Aston Martin models in the US and Canada. Apple will roll out the Ultra to existing models with supported infotainment systems in the coming weeks.

Brands like Hyundai and Kia are also working on integrating the CarPlay Ultra into their vehicles. The intentions for the CarPlay’s next generation were announced in 2022. Ideally, the system should’ve launched in 2024, but it couldn’t happen. There is ambiguity regarding the system coming to automakers, like Porsche, which confirmed support at the time.

Apple CarPlay Ultra allows users to control the car’s radio and climate using onscreen controls, physical buttons or Siri. Integration of widgets is also possible in this system. The CarPlay Ultra is compatible with iPhone 12 or newer, with iOS 18.5 or later.

Apple states that the CarPlay Ultra takes learnings from the previous systems and provides a better user interface. The new system allows for information for all driver screens with real-time content and gauges in the instrument cluster. The users will be able to view information from an iPhone, like TPMS, ADAS, maps and media in the instrument cluster.
