Ather 450X Update
Ather Energy’s recent type-approval certificate

Ather is readying the new 450X and 450 Plus with a comprehensive update, to become more powerful with better range

Ather Energy, which has been dormant for quite some time now, is readying a big update for its 450X and 450 Plus electric scooters. A type-approval certificate from ARAI given to Ather has been leaked online and it has a lot of interesting revelations.

Ather has reportedly requested NCT New Delhi Transport Department to register test mules of its upcoming models.

From the type-approval certificate, we can make out that the company has not only increased the battery capacity of both the scooters – 450X and 450 Plus but also the motors’ overall power outputs.

Currently, both the scooters are supplied by a 2.9 kWh Lithium ion battery pack. But, soon it will be replaced by a bigger 3.66 kWh unit, a hike of 0.76 kWh. As of now, the 450X and 450 Plus exert a maximum power of 8.05 HP and 7.2 HP respectively.

But, soon, they will get more powerful motors with a maximum power of 8.6 HP and 7.8 HP respectively. Ather 450X will gain 0.55 HP and 450 Plus 0.6 HP. This should, most probably, increase the top speed from the current 80 km/hr.

Ather 450X might soon get a range up to 146 km

The biggest update, however, is the range. The 450X’s new ARAI claimed range is 146 Km, a bump of 30 km from the current claimed range of 116 km. The 450 Plus’ new ARAI claimed range is 108 km, a hike of 8 km from the current 100 km.

With this, the Ather 450X would soon be trailing the Ola S1 Pro’s ARAI claimed range of 181 km by just 35 km. Even, the newly launched TVS iQube ST’s ARAI claimed range is 140 km trailing the Ola by just 41 km.

Interestingly, the type-approval certificate also has mentions that both the scooters have got a new Smart Eco Mode with peak power curtailed to 3 HP. It is expected to provide a perfect power and range balance between the existing Ride mode and Eco Mode.
