Bajaj Auto will introduce three new models of the Avenger cruiser bike next week and they will be powered by the same 200cc engine borrowed from the Pulsar range.

Bajaj Avenger 220
The new Avenger models will get a more powerful engine and a 6-speed gearbox

The Bajaj Avenger cruiser bike has been on sale since a very long time. Bajaj Auto recently updated the Pulsar range with the launch of the RS 200 and AS 200 while the Pulsar 200 NS has already been in the market. The company is now gearing up to update the Avenger product range and three new Avenger models will be launched in the first week of October, i.e. next week. The new Avenger models will feature minor cosmetic enhancements while the most significant change will be the engine.

The current Bajaj Avenger is powered by a 220cc engine that churns out 19 BHP of power at 8400 RPM and 17.5 Nm of torque at 7000 RPM and the engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. It is expected that the new Avenger will be powered by a 200cc engine which will be borrowed from the Pulsar line-up. This engine belts out 23 BHP of power at 9500 RPM and 18.3 Nm of torque at 8000 RPM. The updated Avenger models will also come with a 6-speed gearbox.

On the cosmetic front, the overall styling will still remain the same but we can expect minor changes to body parts and some redesigned panels. Bajaj might also offer some new colours on the updated range. As of now, the Bajaj Avenger 220 is priced at Rs. 83,212/- (ex-showroom, Mumbai) so it is expected that the new model will see a marginal hike in price. No details about the 3 models have been revealed yet so it remains to be seen what differences each one of them will have.

Presently, Bajaj Auto manages to sell 4000 units of the Avenger every month but the company is expecting sales to go up to 20,000 units a month with the introduction of these new models. The Avenger rivals bikes like the Hyosung Aquila 250 and the Royal Enfield cruiser range with further competition coming in the form of UM Motorcycles early next year.
