BMW has launched the 2013 X1 facelift in India today. The vehicle was spotted at ARAI, Pune in June 2012 and we are not sure what took the company so long to bring the updated model to the market. The changes to the BMW X1 are not drastic but the minor upgrades to this Bavarian compact SUV makes it look all the more desirable. BMW has made changes to the exteriors of the X1 which now gets revisions to the front and rear bumpers, grille, headlights, fog lights, tail lights along with new mirrors. These changes are not easily visible to the eyes and one needs to see the old X1 simuntaneusly to make out what is new!

2013 BMW X1 Prices (ex-showroom, India) –

  • X1 sDrive20d – Rs. 27.90 lakhs
  • X1 sDrive20d Sport Line – Rs. 32.50 lakhs
  • X1 sDrive 20d xLine – Rs. 32.50 lakhs

The demand for petrol powered luxury cars is very less and thus the new BMW X1 is offered with a diesel engine only. The 2.0-litre diesel motor produces 184 BHP of power and 380 Nm of torque, sending power to the rear wheels (there is no 4-wheel drive variant on offer). It is mated to a new 8-speed automatic gearbox, the old X1 used a 6-speed automatic gearbox. 0 – 100 km/hr comes up in 7.9 seconds while top speed is 205 km/hr. The BMW X1 also gets auto start/stop system along with brake energy regeneration. There are two drive models – ECO and PRO.

The pricing of the new BMW X1 is quite aggressive as the German car maker has to now tackle Audi’s Q3 and Volvo’s upcoming V40 Cross Country. BMW has also made changes to the interiors of the X1 which now gets a redesigned centre console along with chrome garnish on the AC vents and silver finishing on the steering wheel. Other features like BMW iDrive (with Navigation and GPS), 8.8-inch high resolution display, Park Distance Control are offered. The company claims a 50:50 weight distribution on the vehicle, which ensures agility and efficiency.
