BMW X1 Facelift Spied

A few months ago, BMW unveiled the facelifted X1 at the New York Auto Show. The German automaker would naturally bring it to India but when was the real question. Now with Team-BHP member Dieselite spotting the 2013 BMW X1 facelift at ARAI in Pune, it has become clear, that BMW will be launching the X1 facelift in the Indian market soon. Trust BMW with their disguises, only the facelifted portions were covered with some sort of tattoo art stick-ons. It is very clear what changes the facelifted X1 has received, with most of them being visually apparent.

The BMW X1 spotted was a diesel (thanks to the sticker on the fuel gauge). All four disc-breaks could be seen through the alloys, which seemingly have been slightly modified. Here’s what we think have been changed – firstly there is the enhanced iDrive controller, the gear lever seems to be the all new one from the current crop of BMWs but most importantly, it now features a 8-speed automatic gearbox. Interiors were the regular black and greyish silver, which have received minor revisions.

BMW has pre-poned the launch of the X1 facelift as it looks at countering its arch German rival. Audi, which recently overtook Mercedes-Benz for number two position, recently launched the Q3 compact crossover in the Indian market and was able to sell off the initial batch of 500 units within a few days of launch itself. BMW hopes that the mildly refreshed X1 will unsettle the Audi Q3, which will be assembled via CKD kits. With the engines expected to get slight power updates, the new BMW X1 will certainly please just as much as it’s predecessor.
