The Yamaha R25 has easily been one of the most awaited launches this year to hit the performance bike circuit. The bike which was launched in Indonesia last month received an overwhelming response with Yamaha finding it hard to keep up with the demand of the quarter-litre sports bike. While the R25 is still sometime away from making it to other markets around the globe, the Japanese manufacturer has released the making of the R25s twin-cylinder engine at the manufacturing plant, to keep the excitement of the bike alive.
The latest videos showcase the Yamaha R25 being assembled at the company’s plant in Indonesia, while engine also being tested at the R&D facility. The first video gives a glimpse as to how the most awaited quarter-litre sports bike is being manufactured with precision. The bike is produced with the aid of technicians and robots that bring together all components and then test the bike after assembly. The second video showcases an automated test rig that is testing the 250cc twin-cylinder engine to its limit.
The latest to carry the R DNA, the Yamaha R25 uses a tubular diamond chassis and is powered by a 250cc parallel twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 36 PS of power at 12,000 RPM and 22.1 Nm of torque at 10,000 RPM, mated to a 6-speed transmission. The bike gets 41 mm telescopic front forks, while the rear features a monoshock setup. The R25 uses a 110/70/17 front tyre and a 140/70/17 tyre at the rear while stopping power comes from 298 mm dual piston floating front disc brake and 220 mm single piston rear disc brake setup.
The R25 weighs 166 kgs with a 50:50 weight distribution setup and can achieve a top speed of 173 km/hr. Priced at Rs. 2.7 lakhs (Indian equivalent) in Indonesia, the Yamaha R25 received 2800 booking within 25 hours of launch and competes against the Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the Honda CBR300R in the segment.
