The TrailBlazer is powered by a 2.8-litre motor producing 200 BHP & 500 Nm

Commencing its turnaround strategy for India, General Motors has launched the Chevrolet TrailBlazer in the country with a starting price of Rs. 26.4 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The premium SUV is the American automaker’s all-new product in ages and rivals the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, SsangYong Rexton and the likes in the segment. Here is everything you need to know about the TrailBlazer.

Design – Boasting of Chevrolet’s new family styling, the TrailBlazer SUV comes with the twin grille setup at the front, bug-eyed headlights with projectors and LED tail lamps. You get the chin-up bumper for the tough and rugged appearance while the 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in thick rubber, making for a sizeable stance. The TrailBlazer in every sense is intimidating with its massive road presence and can gobble up rough terrain with ease, courtesy of its massive ground clearance of 241 mm.

Interiors – A neatly laid out interior, the Chevrolet TrailBlazer gets done up in a beige and black combination and comes with a loaded dashboard while the twin-pod instrument cluster inspired from the Camaro comes with a large MID unit and blue illumination. The centre console gets gloss black applique for a premium finish while the gearshift knob is done up in chrome. The three rows of seats offer ample of space with the last row being foldable in order to accommodate additional cargo.

In terms of features, the Chevrolet TrailBlazer comes loaded with a 6-way power adjustable driver’s seat, new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the SmartLink system offering smartphone connectivity, auto climate control, reverse parking camera with sensors, multi-function steering wheel, electrically foldable ORVMs and a whole lot more.

Engine – Powering the Chevrolet TrailBlazer is a 2.8-litre DURAMAX diesel engine that is tuned to produce 200 BHP of power at 3600 RPM and 500 Nm of torque at 2000 RPM, paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission. There is no manual unit on offer at present while power is sent only to the rear wheels with no 4WD either (not planned for launch in the future).

Safety – The TrailBlazer comes with only dual front airbags while electronic aids are in abundance including ABS, EBD, Panic Brake Assist, Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist, Traction Control System, Electronic Stability Control and Cornering Brake Control.

Fuel Efficiency – The Chevrolet TrailBlazer returns an ARAI certified fuel efficiency figure of 11.45 km/l.

GM is importing the Chevrolet TrailBlazer via the CBU route in the country from Thailand, which makes for the steep pricing on the model. The automaker has also come with the initiative to book the premium SUV on Amazon.in at a nominal amount which is completely refundable as well, making it the most expensive auto product to be sold online. Bookings for the TrailBlazer have also commenced at Chevrolet dealerships across the country from today.
