The C3 is expected to offer segment-standard performance

Leaked Citroen C3 specs reveal a turbo petrol variant in the making, debut this month

Ahead of its unveil this month, the specs of the maiden compact SUV from Citroen, C3, have been leaked online. It gets 2 petrol engines alone and there won’t be a diesel heart. The launch and deliveries of the C3 will start from next month onwards.

The 2 petrol engines are a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated unit that puts out 80 HP and a turbo-charged unit that makes 109 HP. There will be 2 variants on offer – Live and Feel.

The engines will also come mated with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission in addition to the regular manual unit. These figures are neck-to-neck with the competition.

For example, the country’s highest selling SUV, Tata Nexon’s 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine puts just 9 HP more power and the SUV’s huge dimensions even negates that increment. So, the C3 is expected to perform as good as its compact SUV rivals on road.

Further, the car’s dimensions are as follows. The compact SUV measures 3981mm in length, 1733 mm in width, and 1586mm in height. The wheelbase is 2540 mm.

The C3 has its design inspired from its bigger brother, C5 Aircross. It will come packed with many features like a 10-inch touchscreen display with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a digital instrument cluster. Basic safety features are also expected.

The C3 will come with a choice of 10 colours, most dual-tone flashy ones. The exterior detailing is mostly taken care by the huge body cladding.

The fused roof rails further accentuate the SUV stance while the split headlamps and Citroen’s signature grille complete the looks at the front.

The interesting aspect to note here is the C3’s expected price. Sources say, it would command a starting ex-showroom price of just over Rs. 5.5 lakhs undercutting even the affordable Nissan Magnite.

Select dealerships have started accepting bookings for the upcoming Citroen C3. The booking amount could be somewhere around Rs. 20,000/-.
