Citroen C5 X Front
The front has aggression and the lighting units add to that

Citroen has unveiled the C5 X, its new flagship, which combines the design of a saloon and estate, while boasting of an elevated stance. It will go on sale overseas in the second half of the year.

The design of the vehicle does not fit into a set template. However, the car’s long bonnet, LED DRLs that flank the brand logo, along with an edgy front bumper design does give it an aggressive ‘face’.

Along the sides, the Citroen C5 X has a high waistline, a sloping roofline, slight kick above the rear wheels, trapezoidal wheel arch body lines (regular wheel arches are clad in plastic and are rounded), and large 19-inch alloy wheels.

Interestingly, the rear profile of the car is more traditional, being more curvaceous than sharp, with sleek lighting units, spoiler, and a wide and long boot lid.

In all, the car is 4805 mm long, 1865 mm wide, 1485 mm tall and has a 2785 mm wheelbase. The boot space is generous at 545 litres.

Inside, the Citroen C5 X has been designed to keep its occupants comfortable over any type of journey. There are ‘Advanced Comfort’ seats with special padding in the car, while minimalism has played a major role in how the dash has been laid out.

Keeping the number of physical buttons to a minimum, Citroen has given the C5 X an uncluttered dashboard and features such as a digital instrument cluster, Extended Head Up Display, 12-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone charging, sunroof, hands-free tailgate, among several others.

Along with the unveil of the Citroen C5 X took place the introduction of the Citroen Advanced Comfort Active suspension (with 3 modes), which the brand claims enhances the impression of travelling on a magic carpet.

In addition to the petrol variant, the C5 X is also offered as a plug-in hybrid. The powertrain makes 225 HP combined and can enable travel up to 50 km (with speeds up to 135 km/hr) in electric mode.

A modern vehicle is never complete with a set of driver assistance systems. Thus, the Citroen C5 X comes with semi-autonomous level 2 driving, Highway Driver Assist (combines Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go and Lane Keeping Assist), Long Range Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Top 360 Vision, and so on.
