The Avanti is tagged as the first ‘Made in India’ sports car indigenously designed and developed in India for Indian customers and for Indian roads.

DC Avanti Launch Date
The Avanti draws power from a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing 250 BHP

Having made a long journey since the prototype was revealed at the 2012 Auto Expo, DC Designs has officially launched the Avanti two-door sportscar in the country priced at Rs. 35.93 lakhs (ex-showroom, Pune). The custom carmaker scheduled the launch event at its only dealership in Maharashtra located near Pune and is currently accepting bookings at all dealerships across the country. The company has tagged the Avanti as a ‘Made in India’ sportscar that is indigenously designed and developed for Indian customers and roads.

The DC Avanti is targeted at young aspirational buyers who would want to differentiate themselves with a sportscar instead of the run-of-the-mill luxury saloons available in the same price range. The Avanti boasts of several inspired lines and definitely holds presence on road given the quirky aesthetics. The coupe roofline, accentuated wheel arches and a mid-mounted engine makes it stand out compared to any other vehicle in comparison. The car rides on 20-inch alloy wheels with several options available that can be changed under DC’s customisation program.

In terms of mechanicals, the DC Avanti uses a Renault sourced 2.0-litre four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine under the hood producing 250 BHP at 5500 RPM and 340 Nm of torque available between 2750-5000 RPM, paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. The car comes with a kerb weight of 1580 kgs and is capable of doing the 0-100 km/hr run in 6 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 200 km/hr. Being designed for India, the Avanti comes with a ground clearance of 170 mm that ensures the underbody remains scrape free without hampering on performance.

In terms of features, the DC Avanti gets all four disc brakes, ABS, EBD, roll cage with side impact bars and 3-point seatbelts with pre-tensioners. Airbags are completely missed on this Rs. 35 lakh worth sportscar, which is a major disappointment. Lastly, DC is offering a host of customisation options including carbon fibre inserts, matte finished paint job, Apple CarPlay infotainment system, leather upholstery and even customised bags to match your ride.
