The 2016 Auto Expo will see over 65 exhibitors that include major auto manufacturers while several Indian automakers have opted out of the expo this year for different reasons.

It is that time of the year again when the Indian auto industry goes into a frenzy as the world takes a close look at the upcoming launches, concepts and strategies that will be displayed across different pavilions. As you may have guessed, the 2016 Auto Expo is all set to arrive next February and preparations have begun for the biennial event that will see over 65 exhibitors participating this time as new manufacturers make their way to India while some have chosen to opt out. That said, here are the names that will be participating at the forthcoming event.

Auto manufacturers confirmed participating in the 2016 Auto Expo include Nissan-Datsun, Fiat, Ford, General Motors, Honda Cars, Hyundai, Isuzu, Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, Renault, Tata Motors, Toyota and Volkswagen. In the luxury space, automakers having confirmed participation include Audi, BMW, Jaguar Land Rover and Mercedes-Benz; while Ashok Leyland, Scania, SML Isuzu and VE Commercial Vehicles will be making their presence felt in the commercial segment.

In the two-wheeler space, auto majors Hero MotoCorp, Yamaha, Mahindra 2-Wheelers, Piaggio Vehicles, UM Motorcycles, Honda Motorcycle and Scooters, Suzuki Motorcycles, Triumph, Polaris, TVS among others will be showcasing their latest products and technologies. In addition, the 2016 Auto Expo will see new manufacturers like Abarth, BMW Motorrad, Jeep, DSK Benelli and Indian Motorcycles make its debut. Lastly, high end bicycles, tyres, oil companies, accessory manufacturers, component makers, automotive design studios and many others companies will also be participating this year.

While the illustrious list is a handful, several manufacturers have opted out of the biennial event including Bajaj Auto, Harley-Davidson, Royal Enfield, Volvo and a few more, over different reasons. That said, organisers have created a pavilion dedicated to classic cars and an activity area for safe riding and driving simulators to keep things interesting. The 2016 Auto Expo will be bigger and better than ever with the gross indoor exhibition space increased from 62,000 sq.mts. seen in 2014 to 68,000 sq.mts. in the forthcoming edition and is spread over six large halls apart from open venues.

The 2016 Auto Expo is expected to accommodate six lakh visitors this year over five public days, which is 20 percent more than the previous edition. The organisers are also working on offering better Wi-Fi and network connectivity this time with dedicated towers while there will be free bus shuttle services from the Botanical Gardens metro station.
