Ford India will finally be launching the much awaited Figo Aspire compact sedan in early August 2015. Ford’s dealerships across the country have even started accepting bookings for the Figo Aspire for an amount of Rs. 1 lakh. The next product from the American company is very crucial for its fate in the Indian market, as the Figo Aspire could become the game changer for them much like the EcoSport. The EcoSport’s sales have been falling for some time now and the Figo Aspire could help the company to improve their hold onto the Indian car market. The car manufacturer sold 75,138 units in the 2014-15 fiscal year, experiencing a decline of 11 percent.

Presently, the compact sedan is going through 25 cities as part of its pan-India road show called “What Drives You?”. The 10 week long campaign started on 6th May 2015 and is expected to end by the third week of July 2015. The new Ford Figo Aspire compact sedan will be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options, a 1.2-litre Ti-VCT petrol engine and a 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine. Both of these motors will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, but the petrol unit will get the option of a 6-speed PowerShift dual-clutch automatic transmission as well.

The Ford Figo Aspire will compete with the likes of the Maruti Swift DZire, Hyundai Xcent and Honda Amaze, and is the first car to be rolled out from the company’s new Sanand plant in Gujarat. The interiors look quite premium as compared to the outgoing Figo hatchback and the fit and finish is almost similar to the EcoSport. Overall, the car gives a positive first impression and we hope the Figo Aspire also lives up to the expectations of being a good driver’s car, much like the Ford Fiesta sedan.
