Ford Mustang Mach E trademark registered in India, likely to launch via CBU

Ford is making a comeback to the Indian market soon. Initially, there were rumors about the American carmaker’s comeback when they decided not to sell their Chennai plant recently. Eventually, design patents were filed for the new generation Ford Endeavour, which made things more exciting. Finally, a few weeks back, some job openings were listed for their EV project in India, confirming their comeback. However, they have still not announced their re-entry to the Indian market officially.

The recent filing of Ford Mustang Mach-E trademark is yet another hint of their future presence in our country. The American carmaker is likely to focus on electric vehicles with their comeback in India. The Mach-E is expected to be imported via CBU route soon after their official launch.

The exterior of this electric vehicle has typical Mustang elements but with a crossover silhouette. It is available with both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive layouts in the international market. It comes in 5 variants with varying power and performance figures.

The entry-level Select grade comes with a 75.7 kWh battery pack and gets 255 HP with 414 Nm of torque. The AWD variant comes with 565 Nm torque. The RWD variant has a range of 370 km and does 0-100 km/hr in 6 seconds. The AWD trim has a 0-100 km/hr timing of 5 seconds and a range of 338 km.

The range topping Mach-E GT grade delivers 459 HP and 830 Nm of torque. It gets all-wheel drive and a 98.8 kWh battery. It has a driving range of 378 km with 0-100 km/hr timing of mid 3 seconds.

Ford is also developing a more affordable mass market electric vehicle, which is likely to be manufactured in India for both the domestic and international markets.
