The automotive industry is witnessing a lot of changes since the past few years. Demand for premium vehicles is only increasing due to a lot of reasons. People are more and more interested in buying luxury vehicles, be it entry-level or full-blown luxo barges. Luxury automakers have also upped their offerings in the entry-level segments to cater to a larger array of buyers.

Entry-level offerings in the luxury vehicle space include the Mercedes A-Class, B-Class, CLA, BMW X1, Audi A3 and Q3 and almost all the vehicles in this segment are offered with a front-wheel drive layout. In fact, sales are soaring in such a way that almost 50% of German car sales comprise of front-wheel drive cars.

Mercedes-Benz has stated that while SUVs are seeing the most demand, growth of the entry-level space was also very high. With such double digit growth happening, these automakers are serving a very wider base of clientèle across the country now. The case is similar with rivals Audi and BMW too who are raking in decent numbers with their offerings.

The BMW X1 was earlier a rear-wheel drive model but the second generation of the compact SUV that was launched recently comes with a front-wheel drive layout. Not only the German trio, luxury automakers like Jaguar Land Rover and Volvo are also witnessing good demand in the lower spectrum of the premium vehicles segment.
