General Motors plans to roll out engines from its engine manufacturing facility at Talegaon in Maharashtra by the second week of November. This is GM’s first flexi engine plant where both petrol and diesel small car engines would be manufactured together. This year Beat LPG version would be launched and its diesel engine would be rolled out of Talegaon plant. The diesel engine is a modified version of the 1.3L Multijet diesel with one cylinder less. The 1.0l three cylinder unit produces around 60bhp and will be the smallest diesel engine in the country.

GMI has invested Rs 5,000 crore in India so far and is deeply committed to the market. Construction of the 160,000 unit engine plant was in full swing and the engines would be rolled out of the facility by November second week.
