Honda Activa 3G Test Report
The Duet will be more feature rich than the Activa 3G

You read it first on MotorBeam. Hero has a skew of scooter launches planned up for this year. Most of these upcoming scooters were displayed by the Indian manufacturer at the 2014 Auto Expo, where these models also gained a lot of popularity. The sudden love for scooters in the Indian market can be attributed to the fact that these are much more comfortable, agile, gearless and easy to handle as compared to motorcycles. Scooters are also gender neutral and are valuable offerings for all the sexes.

Honda was able to capitalise on the sudden scooter industry boom with the crowd favourite Activa. When it comes to talking about scooters, Activa is the first name which comes everyone’s mind. Other two-wheeler manufacturers are currently playing catch up to the popular scooter and Hero seems to have taken the direct route altogether to do so. What’s the direct route? It’s known as badge engineering. That’s right, Hero’s upcoming scooter the Duet is nothing but a badge engineered Honda Activa 3G.

Popularly termed as rebadged, the Hero Duet is presumed to carry the same characteristics as the Activa 3G but will offer more features than the latter scooter. Hero’s upcoming scooter uses a metal body and will be powered by a 111cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine which can output 8.56 PS of power at 7500 RPM and 9.4 Nm of torque at 5750 RPM. It will have telescopic forks and tubeless tyres.

The Duet might borrow features from the upcoming Maestro Edge also which at the time of launch will become one of the most feature rich scooters to go on sale in the country. The Hero Duet is expected to be priced below the Rs. 50,000/- mark (ex-showroom) in the country. So all of you who is looking forward to purchasing a scooter this year, keep your eyes wide open for the many worthy products that will be coming from the Hero stable this year, which added with the company’s after sales service will be a tough proposition to leave out.
