Honda City Facelift Long Term 1

Honda City To Get Another Facelift In 2026 Before Next-Gen Arrival

Honda Cars India has confirmed that the current-generation Honda City will receive a second facelift in 2026, extending its lifecycle until the arrival of the all-new sixth-generation model, expected around 2028. The upcoming update will help the City stay competitive in the midsize sedan segment, which continues to see frequent refreshes from rival brands.

Mechanically, the facelifted model of the Honda City will remain unchanged. It will continue to be powered by the familiar 1.5-litre NA petrol engine producing 121 BHP and 145 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual or a CVT. The Honda City Hybrid will also continue alongside, retaining its strong focus on fuel efficiency and refinement.

Visually, the facelift is expected to bring simple design revisions, including updates to the front grille, bumpers, lighting elements and alloy wheels. Honda may align the City’s styling closer to its newer global models, while avoiding major structural changes.

Interior updates are likely to be minimal but closer to the SUV on sale the Honda Elevate. While focusing on new trim options, upholstery revisions and possible feature additions. A 360-degree camera and minor tech upgrades could be introduced to keep the sedan competitive against newer rivals.

Honda recently showcased a Sport version of the City to keep the model fresh. However, the upcoming facelift is expected to bring more meaningful feature additions and design updates. While the Sport variant offered a slightly refreshed look, the current-generation Honda City now needs a more substantial update to stay competitive.

With competitors like the Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia also expected to receive updates in the coming years. Out of which spy shots of the German competition is already visible over the internet. Honda’s decision to introduce another facelift ensures the City remains relevant in one of India’s most competitive car segments.
