Honda recently launched the executive version of the hot selling Civic. This version is now the base version without any frills.

We checked out the car and weren’t impressed as the equipment is totally basic for a D segment car. While Honda hasn’t skimped on safety by providing ABS, EBD and Airbags, the new E variant (E for executive or is it) comes without alloy wheels, front fog lamps, audio controls in rear seat armrest, automatic climate control, power retractable door mirrors, back reading lamp, front and back magazine rack, urethane steering wheel (no leather), fabric seats (no leather), AUX-IN, single CD changer ( V has 6CD changer), 4 speakers (V has 6 speakers), chrome garnishings on door handles, all of which are standard in the top of the line V. All of a sudden the overpriced V variant looks like a good deal. My random guess is Honda is targeting the Taxi segment.
