The Honda CBR650F will be launched later this year and will have very less localisation involved, due to which the price of the bike will shoot up.

News of the Honda CBR650F being launched in India has got everyone excited. The performance-oriented bike’s India launch has been long pending. When Honda had kept a huge launch event last month, everyone though that the CBR650F could be launched as a surprise but it was a bummer when the company launched only updated versions of its present products that are already on sale. Few weeks back we reported that the CBR650F will be launched in July 2015 and obviously, the bike will be brought down to the country via the CKD route. The CBR650F will also be the country’s third-most affordable 4-cylinder bike while the cheaper ones are the Benelli BN 600i and Kawasaki Z800.

The Honda CBR650F looks very sporty no doubt. The bike also gets some funky colour schemes which will be attention-grabbing. However, looks are not everything. The bike is powered by an inline-4 engine that churns out 87 HP of power and 67 Nm of torque. The motorcycle competes with the Kawasaki Ninja 650 and the Triumph Street Triple. The Ninja comes with a parallel twin-cylinder engine putting out 72 HP of power and 64 Nm of torque while the Street Triple gives out 79.3 PS of power and 57.3 Nm of torque. The CBR comes mated to a 6-speed transmission and fuel efficiency is claimed to be 21 km/l.

Honda will have very less localisation of only 5% for the CBR650F here. The company will surely increase the amount of localised content but that will take a considerable amount of time. The auto giant has already started importing various parts of the bike from Thailand. The parts will then be assembled here at the company’s plant. Due to the less localised content, the Honda CBR650F will be priced at close to Rs. 8 lakhs (ex-showroom) and that makes it significantly pricier than its direct rival, the Ninja 650.
