The EICMA 2017 seems to be crammed with interesting concepts and production models. Amidst this wave of exciting machines, Husqvarna has also booked a spot to showcase the concept versions of the Svartpilent 701 and Vitpilen 701. We have already come across a lot of images of the siblings. The concept models now though amaze us as the Svartpilen 701 looks stonker with its quirky body panels. The Vitpilen 701 on the other hand, is close to the production version which, also, is impressive.

The Husqvarna Vitpilen 701, which is a cafe racer, is similar to the production mule but carries slightly fancy bits which a concept should have. The bike gets round LED headlamps, nicely sculpted and petite fuel tank and long front and tiny rear seat ending into an upswept tail. The clip-on handlebar and single pod instrument cluster complete the cafe racer look. The final model for customers might hold a few distinctions over this one.

Moving on to the Husqvarna Svartpilen 701 concept, the design has been quite exaggerated. Especially, the rear portion which carries a bizarre body panel flowing downwards. Rest of the cosmetics give it a quintessential flat tracker touch and looks menacing. The LED ring in the headlamp section looks outstanding with the flat handlebar and 18-inch front wheels. The bulky exhaust canister consists of several pipes peeking from inside and the seat has a badge which reads ‘pioneering since 1903.’

Powering the Husqvarna 701 twins is the same motor of the KTM Duke 690. It churns out 73.75 PS of power and 72 Nm of torque but the tunning may be different for both the motorcycles depending on their purpose. As for the India entry, their low capacity versions – the Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401 with the engine derived from KTM Duke 390 are expected to come by 2018. But the launch of the bigger monsters is still uncertain.
