2012 Hyosung GT250R Review

The Indo-Korean alliance of DSK-Hyosung is planning to launch a mass market 150cc motorcycle in India. The motorcycle is expected to be priced aggressively, to make it an affordable choice for Indian customers. This move will help the manufacturer to expand volumes and improve its presence in India. The company is setting up a new plant in Satara, Maharashtra. The plant is expected to be functional by the end of 2013. The company plans to localize the Hyosung GT250R and this motorcycle is likely to shed its price by Rs. 50,000/- after cloe to 25% localization is achieved.

The Hyosung GT250R features a V-twin engine churning out a peak power of 28 BHP with 23 Nm of torque mated to a five-speed transmission. The GV650 Aquila Cruiser motorcycle is also expected to enter India in mid-2013 with a price tag of Rs. 5 lakhs, featuring a 70 BHP V-twin engine mated to a five-speed transmission. The company is likely to introduce a the younger sibling of the GV650 by April 2013, the GV250 cruiser that produces 29 BHP, to be priced around Rs. 1.8 lakhs.

Hyosung is also expected to launch the next generation GT650R by 2014. The brand is finally looking forward to expanding its line up in India. The company currently offers only four motorcycles in India – GT650N, GT650R, GT250R and the ST7 cruiser. S&T Motors Co.
