Tata Nexon EV Review Test Drive
The upcoming Hyundai EV will compete with the Tata Nexon EV

Hyundai launched their first all-electric car in India last year, the Kona. The electric crossover is available with a price tag of Rs. 23.70 lakhs (ex-showroom). Now Hyundai is planning to introduce a mass market EV.

The carmaker is working on an affordable electric vehicle that will be made in India and made for India. They might export it to the other countries as well if the EV fits the requirements.

Hyundai is also looking at a battery manufacturing plant in India so we can expect a fully localised EV with a competitive price tag.

The company is planning to design the SUV ground-up in India, which is primarily meant for electrification but it could also be used for internal combustion engines with a flexible architecture. They are currently undergoing discussions and negotiations with potential suppliers.

The real world driving range of the upcoming Hyundai EV will be between 200-300 km. The compact SUV will compete against the Tata Nexon EV, which retails from Rs. 13.99 lakhs (ex-showroom). Expect Hyundai to undercut the pricing of the Nexon EV.
